Meetings & Board Elections

Bayou Landing holds one meeting of the membership each year. It is where directors are elected and where owners can put questions to the Board and to management directly. Dates, notices and ballots are published through TownSq.

The annual meeting

The association holds an annual meeting of the members once each year. Notice of the meeting, the agenda, and any absentee ballot materials are distributed by management ahead of time.

The most recent annual meeting was held on April 23, 2026. Watch TownSq for the notice of the next one.

Quorum

A quorum for a meeting of the members is one-tenth of the lots in the association — in practice, 7 homeowners, counted whether they are present in person or participating by absentee ballot.

That is a small number, and it is still missed. If a meeting fails for want of a quorum it has to be re-noticed and re-held, which delays the election and everything else on the agenda. Returning an absentee ballot takes a few minutes and counts toward quorum even if you cannot attend.

How members vote

Members may vote either in person at the meeting or by absentee ballot submitted in advance according to the instructions on the ballot. Both count toward quorum.

The Board of Directors

The association is governed by a Board of three directors, serving staggered terms so that the whole board does not turn over at once and institutional knowledge carries forward.

The 2026 election filled all three seats: two seats for two-year terms and one seat for a one-year term. The staggering resumes from there, with seats coming up in different years.

Directors serve as volunteers. The governing text on the number of directors, terms, vacancies, removal and officer roles is in the Bylaws — see Article IV, Board of Directors and Article V, Nomination and Election of Directors.

Running for the Board

If you would like to serve, here is what is required:

The deadline for submitting a bio is posted to TownSq ahead of each annual meeting, along with where to send it. Because ballots have to be printed and distributed in advance, the deadline is firm — if you are thinking about it, watch for the notice and send your bio early.

If you are unsure whether serving is right for you, email the current Board at [email protected] and ask what the commitment actually looks like.

Board meetings

Beyond the annual meeting of the members, the Board meets to conduct association business as needed. Owners with a matter for the Board’s attention should raise it with management or email the Board so it can be put on an agenda rather than raised cold.
